- About this Qualification
This qualification reflects the roles of entry-level vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers, and assessors who are delivering training services to vocational learners and assessment services to candidates.
The roles may be undertaken by those working in registered training organisations (RTOs), enterprises, community organisations, schools, and other VET provision contexts.
The volume of learning of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is typically six (6) months to two (2) years.

The qualification is a successor to TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
This qualification meets the minimum education requirement for trainers and assessors operating without supervision under applicable VET legislation, frameworks and/or standards.

Entry Requirements
Those entering this qualification must be able to demonstrate vocational competence in their proposed training and assessing area.
Vocational competence is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.

You are assigned your own highly qualified and dedicated AALI trainer and assessor (One point of contact).
There are 6 clusters, some containing multiple units of competency and other just a single unit.
If you visit www.training.gov.au (TGA) you may note that BSBCMM411 is not explicitly listed under the core and electives for the TAE40122. However, this is allowable as import under the training package rules, and we very strongly believe that this is an essential foundation unit for best practice training.
The order of units selected within this course progresses in a logical sequence cluster by cluster.
This course is structured in a manner where each cluster flows onto the other, where you will have the opportunity to build onto the skills and knowledge learnt, whilst progressing toward the completion of each cluster, and the completion of this qualification.
By following the clusters in the order as structured, you will build the skills and knowledge you will need in the real world, as you progressively work towards the completion of this qualification.
- The assessments within this cluster will require you to have access to a minimum of at least 3 people to attend your training, as part of your assessment.
- This can be conducted with friends, adult family member, or workplace colleagues.
- The subjects are your choice.
- The assessments within this cluster will require you to have access to a minimum of at least 4 people to attend your training, as part of your assessment.
- This can be conducted with friends, adult family member, or workplace colleagues.
- The subjects are your choice based upon nationally recognised units of competency.
Your course enrolment period is 14 months
Upon enrolment you are provided with an assessment plan with recommended dates to complete each unit within this course.
You are able to complete all required learning in your own time (Self-Paced), although you will be required to meet assessment milestones to successfully complete this qualification within the timeframe provided.
You are able to progress through the course in less than 14 months as we work at your pace.
When you are completing the entire TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, the order of units selected within this course progresses in a logical sequence, cluster by cluster.
There are 2 different options to complete your course online, according to your existing skills, knowledge, and experience.
Option 1
Completion within 14 months online with email support.
- Suitable for people who: Are currently employed within or have been employed within (recently) a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or Training Company/Business working in vocational education and training (VET):
- You would like to apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) and/or,
- Have many years doing a variety of different types of work, and have industry experience in training and assessment in Vocational Education and Training (VET) and/or,
- Have completed the previous version of this qualification TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Have strong digital literacy and online researching skills.
You have usually been engaged in the workforce for many years doing a variety of different types of work within VET, and are looking to increase your skills and knowledge so that you can take on new roles within respective workplaces.
- You are able to demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed teaching and assessing area
- You have broad industry knowledge and experience, including but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification
- Your role may involve some coaching/mentoring with individuals or small groups
- Your role may involve training others in the workplace
- Your role may involve training of small groups or individuals
- You are currently in the role as an enterprise trainer
- You are currently in the role as an enterprise assessor
- You are wanting to upgrade your skills, knowledge and currency to the new TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- You have strong digital literacy and online researching skills.
Option 2
Completion within 14 months online with email and telephone support.
Suitable for the following people:
- You have NO existing skills, knowledge and experience in Training and Assessment Environments or,
- You have completed the previous version of this qualification TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and would prefer the additional support from your AALI Trainer and Assessor over the phone
- You want to learn as much as possible through guided interactive tutorials
- You are interested in learning about the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and in particular, the skills and knowledge to become a qualified trainer and assessor to gain employment into the training and assessment industry
- You are able to demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed teaching and assessing area and are exploring a new vocational career. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification
- You may be a new entrant to an organisation who have no prior or limited experience in training and assessment, and are exploring a new vocational career
- You may have broad industry knowledge and experience although have no prior, or limited experience in training and assessment, and are exploring a new vocational career
- You may be experienced although prefer to have the additional training support.
